Yoga and yogadance are not just about the body and poses or asanas. It's also not just about breathing and pranayama. Yoga is also about striving to live a life of integrity and positivity. Personally, I find living the way I intend to live my life doesn't always come naturally-I need reminders in the form of inspiration such as the lovely quotes below:
Finding Inspiration
We all get inspiration for somewhere-a mentor, our heros, our parents, our children, our friends, an inspirational story, from nature or the pages of a book. I find inspiration from all these sources but what helps me to remember those wise things that people have shown me is little phrases, pictures that capture a thousand words or just a quote. The pictures and quotes above are some of my favorites. |
There is no one path and it is not always straight:
An important thing to remember about inspiration is that sometimes we forget these things. When we do we need to show ourselves forgiveness and compassion for not living up to our ideal standards. We are all a work in progress and as Jessie J reminds me: "I am still working on my masterpiece!" Also its important to remember that not everyone is interested in this aspect of yogadance and if that person is you then that is totally fine-there is no one path. You need to let your own yoga dance on the dancefloor................................... ..........and through life-your way! |
Acknowledgement for the quotes above:
I Have tried to include a credit to each author of each quote but I apologise for any that do not include acknowledgement -this was usually because it was not clear who was the original author or not available. A special thanks is due to Brene Brown (an exceptional Psychologist/researcher/speaker) from whom many of these lovely quotes originate. She has written many books on shame and healing ourselves.
